ASA Suite, Best Western Inn, Mystic, CT

As announced at the 2005 annual meeting, the ASA is planning a gathering featuring music and good cheer on Friday, Feb. 3, the night before this year's meeting.
We decided to have the gathering in the ASA Suite at the Mystic Best Western Inn instead of at the Seaport, as we thought it would be easier for people to attend if they didn't have further transportation to worry about. Whenever you arrive please stop by the suite to say hello, and stay for as long as you wish (we plan to get things going around 1930 hours, and should continue as long as there is interest). We will have some snacks available but feel free to bring along something to wet your whistle ;-) And any of you who are of a musical bent are strongly encouraged to bring your voices and instruments!

The ASA will once again have a presence at the Wooden Boat Show in 2006. We plan build on the success of our 'floating booth' aboard Bob Pulsch's schooner Heron at last year's show by following in that tradition. The owners and skipper of the schooner When & If have kindly offered to host our booth aboard their historic vessel and we are actively pursuing that option.

We are again planning a gathering featuring music and good cheer at the Mystic Best Western Inn on Friday, Feb. 2, the night before the meeting. This year’s gathering will be held in the Inn’s Banquet Room, not in our suites (we again reserved two suites—this time on the same floor—but were just told a week ago that due to construction they are unavailable).
Whenever you arrive please stop by to say hello, and stay for as long as you wish (we plan to get things going around 1930 hours, and should continue as long as there is interest). We will have some snacks available but feel free to bring along food as well as something to wet your whistle. Any of you who are of a musical bent are strongly encouraged to bring your voices and instruments!
NOTE: If you are looking for accommodations a mere stagger from the gathering (and, on last year's evidence, that's not a bad idea for many of us!), the ASA has negotiated a price of $69/room at the Best Western. Call 860-536-4281.

Refreshments will be available from 0930 and the meeting will be called to order at 1000. After the formal business of the meeting is complete (at approximately 1130), Captain Jan Miles will speak on life aboard the Pride of Baltimore II, highlighting some recent spills and thrills. We’ll leave time for questions, so come prepared!
A buffet lunch will be served in the River Room following Jan’s talk (menu below). IMPORTANT: Mystic requires us to give them a lunch count 14 days in advance, so those wishing to eat lunch at the meeting must let us know. Pease email your name, the number attending the meeting, and the number who will be eating lunch to secretary@amschooner.org.
There will be time to mingle, chat, and continue discussions after the lunch.
