Wanderlure II

WANDERLURE II was launched in 1926 at the premier Richardson Boat Yard in City Island NY and brought out to Newport Beach in 1927 by H. H. Larkin.

She spent her life in Southern California until 1990 when Jerry Hampton brought her to Puget Sound.

Scott & Marilyn Richardson bought & then restored her in 2000-2005. She is very capable at sea, having an impressive racing record in California from 1920's- 1980's.

John Alden has record of 9 boats built to this design - 5 schooners& 4 Ketches.

Varnished teak bulwarks, cap rails, & transom were installed about 1970. Between 2000 - 2005, she was rebuilt, reframed, refastened, recaulked with new silver bali decks added. Her cockpit was rebuilt with new combing, and all other parts of the vessel put in first class condition.

Interior replaced in a traditional manner with Honduras mahogany & leaded glass, stainless counters in the Galley, propane stove, & new Dickinson propane bulkhead heater installed in 2008.

Originally built with a gaff fore, she was changed to stays'l possibly in the 1950's, with installation of a new foremast about 6' higher & a lengthening of the bowsprit.

All bronze winches & Lofranz combination chain & rope electric anchor winch. Steering by tiller in cockpit. Bright varnish finish masts. Wash down pump added 2006..

Engine: Perkins 4-108 Diesel fuel, 4 cylinder, 36 HP, 2800RPM, 1984. Transmission rebuilt 2007, new engine belts & intake hoses 2010, new batteries 2013, new alternator 2014.

Sail inventory: new mainsail, main stays'l, Advance(fisherman), & Genoa by Elliott/Patterson Sailmakers, Newport Beach, CA. older sails include spinnakers, gollywobbler, golliker, shooter.
