Launching Elf

One of our new members, Rick Carrion, will be launching the 1888 cutter on April 18th at Long Cove Marina in Rock Hall, Maryland. This announcement will be important to those members who had expressed an interest in attending the launch and the party that will follow. The launch had been originally scheduled to occur on the 11th but the sudden death on Monday night of the gentleman who was scheduled to move the boat to the marina for us has resulted in a reschedule. Please visit the website ay www.cyrg.org for updates, pictures, directions etc. Rick says that champagne, not Moxie, will be served.

Bill, I know how hard Rick and his crew of dedicated craftsmen have been working on this restoration. But have you taken the time to figure out how you are going to handle the cloud?

Extreme Sailing

Al,

Can't they just drop the main and reef the fors'le?

Have a Great Launching ELF, enjoy the day and those that follow. A grand effort. My hat's off to you. Truely a wonderful outcome for this fine vessel.

Put 'em all up, and let God take 'em down.... And wear hard hats.

Elf is in the water now, reswelling her 120 year old keel and doing well thank you very much. A few minor adjustments on the mechanicals and she should be on her way to Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia for uprigging and installation of her "cloud", all 2300 sq ft of it without the spinnaker. She is only a little over 28' on the waterline but requires a 70 ft dock. If you dont understand why, visit the website at www.cyrg.org and check out her historic photos.
