Call to all From the Mid-Atlantic Commodore

I remember when I was a young Englishman, my parents took me to see the movie "Crimson Pirates", starring Burt Lancaster, at the Bolton Palladium. What an impression that must have had on me, I mean here I am a bonifide Commodore of the American Schooner Association Mid Atlantic Chapter and captain of a schooner, even if her name is Prom Queen. Burt's most memorable words (for me at least) were spoken when he said, "gather round lads and lassies gather round ". Well now it is my turn to say "gather round lads and lassies, gather round". It is time to participate in the third annual Cambridge Schooner Rendezvous with an all hands showing of support. We need members to show up on Friday Oct. 24th, Saturday Oct. 25th, and Sunday Oct. 26th., at Long Wharf in Cambridge Maryland . We will need help in all phases of this event from setting up chairs to docking tall ships and tending our ASA booth and your general support of the largest gathering of schooners on the Delmarva Peninsula since the 1900’s. I may also mention, due to the efforts of Colleen Bell and others, that October has been declared by the Governor of Maryland to be State Schooner Month mainly due to three major nautical events The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, The Cambridge Schooner Rendezvous and The Down Rigging of the schooner Sultana. So I will repeat Burt's words from long ago; "gather round lads and lassies gather round". Attend this rendezvous and participate. After all, we are one of the sponsors and your very own "commodore”, yours truly, is the founder!

Fair winds to you all,

Commodore Roger Worthington, ASA Mid Atlantic Chapter.
