Schooner Month in Maryland

As previously mentioned, October has indeed been proclaimed "Schooner Month in Maryland" by decree of Governor Martin O' Malley.

And no wonder: with Pride of Baltimore II's 20th Birthday celebration this Saturday, Oct 11 (tickets still available: www.marylandspride.org); the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race kicking off its' festivities in Fells Point on Oct 12th- the LARGEST schooner race in the US with 55 boats now registered(www.schoonerrace.org); and on the Eastern Shore: The Cambridge Schooner Rendezvous on the Choptank River Oct 24-26 (www.schoonerrendezvous.com) and the Sultana Downrigging commencing Oct 30th in Chestertown (www.sultanaprojects.org.

With all these amazing events, both Marylanders - and schooner enthusiasts everywhere - have a lot to celebrate!

Most of these events are open to the public and many run on a non-profit shoestring. The planets will never be more favorably aligned - we urge any ASA member on the Eastern Seaboard who can attend to do so. Come show your support and schooner pride!
