Tall Ships wanted for Oyster Festival

The Oyster Festival committee is looking for traditional vessels to attend the annual Oyster Festival as dockside attractions in Oyster Bay, NY on Oct. 17 and 18, 2009. This is a good opportunity for boats not attending the Great Chesapeake Schooner Race, as the festival usually draws over 200,000 visitors during the weekend. They are looking for two large vessels to be berthed at the deep water pier and one smaller ship for the finger pier. Power is not available at the pier but is available for the smaller boat. Non-potable water is available for all. Boats must supply their own gangplanks. Appearance fees are offered.

Although only three boats are needed for the exhibit, all are welcome to anchor in the west harbor and attend the festival. Launch service and shore facilities will be provided with advance permission only. Interested vessels should contact Jennifer Sappell at jsappell@optonline.net (516-492-6064).
