Schooner DOLPHIN auction November 18th

90' 100 ton 1943 schooner "Dolphin" to be sold at auction to the highest bidder on Thursday November 18 at the US Courthouse, 141 Church St. New Haven, CT at 10:30 am.

The opening minimum bid will be $10,000 but the lien to be satisfied is between $43,000 and $69,000 so the lien holder may bid up to his lien amount.

The current owners have spent about $1.4 million completely rebuilding the keel, stem, horn, frames, floors, stingers, bulkheads, fastenings, planking, decks, rudder, shaft etc. She is almost ready to launch but lack of funding has curtailed the project.

The boat includes masts, sails, rigging etc. although the rig is in storage and the interior is not complete. There is a good bit of work still to do, but she is a very good, stout and well found ship.

If anyone is interested in saving this big beautiful old wooden schooner, please pass on this info to anyone who might be in the market or want to help save her.

Stamford Advocate story on Dolphin

"Eight years and as much as $1.4 million later, luck has run out on the 69-year-old ship Dolphin because Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. she is scheduled to be auctioned off in the lobby of the New Haven Federal Courthouse on Church Street in order to pay off a $69,000 yard bill owed to Norwalk Cove Marina."
