Cambridge Schooner Rendezvious

The City of Cambridge Maryland, the American Schooner Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter and the James B. Richardson Foundation, Inc. cordially invite the Captain and crew to attend the 7th Annual Cambridge Schooner Rendezvous, October 19th, 20th & 21st , 2012; the weekend after the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race (GCBSR) and the weekend before the Sultana Downrigging. Free dockage will be provided; pump out facilities and a fuel truck will be available. Docking prior to the 19th is subject to availability - if arriving before the 19th please call for further information.

A welcome reception awaits at the Richardson Maritime Museum on Friday night. A continental breakfast will be available on site Saturday and Sunday morning, with an Eastern Shore dinner being held Saturday evening, all complimentary through the effort of your hosts and the Cambridge Schooner Rendezvous Committee. Liaisons will be assigned to each vessel to assist with needs while in port.

The 2011 rendezvous this past October gave the Captains and crew a welcome change of pace after a boisterous romp down the Bay in the GCBSR with 14 vessels in attendance. The Parade of Sail was
absolutely spectacular to see, hailed by the public and thoroughly enjoyed by all vessels attending.
In 2012, we are working to expand the educational component of the Rendezvous for children through the local schools. If you are interested in participating in the educational program, please let us know by contacting Gladys Taylor at 410-221-1871.

Cambridge, the second deepest port on Maryland's Eastern Shore, is located 17 miles east of the Sharps Island Light on the banks of the beautiful Choptank River. The channel is well marked, an easy and delightful sail with deep water all the way. Schooners and Skipjacks played an important role in Cambridge, many of them being built here including Privateers during the War of 1812. This event, in its 7th year, greatly contributes to the revitalization of our harbor and downtown Cambridge. Many local businesses and individuals continue to pledge their financial support for this annual celebration. Although we require no payment for you to participate, we welcome any donation you may care to make. So please bring your schooner to our harbor and join with us in celebration of their return and the revitalization of the seaport of Cambridge!
